80's celebrity artist Jon Planas discovered by Andy Warhol in NYC for his original one of a kind hand painted evening jackets and artistic notoriety for his contributions to the most successful advertising campaign in history the for the Absolut Vodka brand. Planas’ Main Street Menagerie paintings will commemorate the passing of Gidget, the famous Taco Bell Chihuahua icon. Planas pays homage to the pop art style of Andy Warhol, Keith Harring, and Jean Michael Basquiat, great artists whom he met while working in NYC in the early part of the 80's.
Main Street Menagerie, a unique live art work in progress, where art lovers are welcome to come and watch the fine artists at work. Planas will set up his easel and paint his colorful animals on bottles, canvas, glass windows and other cool surfaces during the month of August. The Bailey Gallery will be open weekly on Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays 2pm-6pm to those who want to meet/view the artist during this progressive exhibition.
Completed works will be on exhibition and for sale to the public at the September Artwalk Artist Reception. A portion of artwork sales to benefit PAWS/LA, a non-profit organization devoted to disenfranchised animal guardians living with HIV/AIDS and the care of their companion animals.

About the Artist Jon Planas painted his only Armani tuxedo jacket to get into Studio 54, He got in to the party of the century and the rest is documented in the NY Times, LA Times CNN, MTV News, and Rolling Stone Magazine. Andy Warhol lifted him up because of the original wearable art designs Planas created for icons of the music, movie and fashion industry that collect and wear Jon Planas designs. Planas is excited to put on a show at the Bailey Gallery at Pussy and Poooch since he now works and lives in downtown LA!
PAWS/LA was founded in 1989 in response to the companion animal-related crises faced by residents of Los Angeles County who were financially and physically debilitated by HIV/AIDS. Since that time, the agency has expanded its scope to assist low-income seniors and any low-income individual living with a chronic or life-threatening illness.
