Dogs of Downtown Long Beach

  • Downtown Long Beach Boulevard Long Beach, CA United States (map)

It is time to salute the four-legged members of our families, that is, our pups.

The Downtown Long Beach Associates will launch its first ever event dedicated to dogs, Dogs of Downtown, set to take over the Promenade on Saturday, November 19th, 11AM to 3PM. This is not just an opportunity to connect dog owners in a unique way but also celebrate the many dog-friendly businesses and patios that make DTLB one of the most pet-friendly places in Southern California.

Beyond activities like an agility course, pet photo booth, pet adoptions and on-site groomers, Dogs of Downtown wants pets and their owners to reconnect on a different level. Mainly, through food. That’s right: the DLBA is inviting DTLB restaurants to come up with creations that are compatible for both human and canine—and allow owners to share a bite of love with their pet.

In the spirit of loving the human connection to animals, Beachwood BBQ & Brewing has created a special beer—dubbed Hop Kong Phooey—which 100% of its net proceeds will be donated to nonprofit Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB). This ‘pawsitively’ aromatic West Coast-style IPA celebrates man's two best friends: dogs and beer. Generously hopped with Simcoe and Equinox hops, Hop Kong Phooey will have you chasing for the next pint.

Additionally, DTLB pet businesses Pussy & Pooch, Bark Bark Daycare and Grooming, Soggy Dog, Pine Animal Hospital, and newly-opened Pawsitively Long Beach will be on hand with booths to offer everything from treats to tips.

Dogs of Downtown will take place on Saturday, November 19th, along the Promenade in DTLB between Broadway and 3rd from 11AM to 3PM. The event is free and open to the public (with no dog required to attend). In conjunction with the event's launch in September, www.dogsofdowntown.orgwill act as a resource for dog owners in DTLB, with listings of dog-friendly patios, parks, businesses and other resources.
