RECALL NOTICE | Evanger's
UPDATED 3/2/17 - RECALL EXPANDED TO ALL EVANGER'S AND AGAINST THE GRAIN BEEF PRODUCTS
FDA Alert: On February 20, 2017, Evanger’s Dog and Cat Food notified the FDA that it planned to recall all “chunk beef” products under the Evanger’s and Against the Grain brands. On February 27, 2017, the FDA became aware that Evanger’s Dog and Cat Food was notifying its distributors and retailers of a new recall for lots of Evanger’s Braised Beef Chunks with Gravy as well as expanding the previous recall for additional lots of Evanger’s canned Hunk of Beef and Against the Grain’s Grain Free Pulled Beef with Gravy.
The 12-ounce cans of dog food being recalled have the following barcodes. The numbers listed below are the second half of the barcode, which can be found on the back of the product label:
Evanger’s Hunk of Beef: 20109
Evanger’s Braised Beef: 20107
Against the Grain Pulled Beef: 80001
The products have expiration dates of December 2019-January 2021.

To Our Valued Clients,
We've been following the recent developing story and voluntary recall(s) on select lots of Evanger’s Beef canned dog food, which was first announced on Feb 3, 2017, and again on Feb 14, 2017 as a pre-caution for select lots of Against the Grain Beef. We had a minimal amount of at-risk cans that we pulled from the floor immediately at that time and have been contacting clients since then that have purchased the brand within the past six months.
If you find you purchased an item at Pussy & Pooch that is involved in this voluntary recall, you can return it to your local store for a full refund or replacement. We do anticipate a further pre-cautionary expanded voluntary recall of all Evanger's Beef recipes.
If you have specific questions, we encourage you to reach out directly to Evanger's. And as always feel free to contact your local P&P Team with any concerns.
We are serious about healthy pet nutrition and wellness and stake our reputation on the trusted brands we share with you. Although we have never previously had an issue with the quality of any of their products and have confidently fed them to our own animals, at this time, we have made the cautionary decision to discontinue carrying the Evanger's and Against the Grain brands.
Please read the Evanger’s news release for more info on this unfortunate situation and read links below for more details from the FDA.
Thank you for the opportunity to be a trusted resource for the health and wellness of your pets' lives.
