625 Pound Kibble Donation Unveil to Take Place on April 25th at the DTLA Pussy & Pooch Meow Mingle -- YOU"RE INVITED to Celebrate!

Feral cats and rescue kitties at Kitty Bungalow Charm School for Wayward Cats in Los Angeles will be meowing on fuller bellies and feeling more feline fabulous thanks to Ellen DeGeneres and a 16-year-old girl named Mimi Ausland.

DeGeneres, who co-owns Halo, Purely for Pets, and Ausland, who founded Freekibble.com when she was just 11 years old, are honoring rescue organization Kitty Bungalow with a gift of 5,000 pet meals of Halo Spot’s Stew all-natural cat food, for their efforts in giving special care and attention to socializing feral kittens, and helping them transition into lap cats in a life-long loving home, and for providing grown feral cats with spay/neuter services in the form of Trap Neuter Release (TNR) within Los Angeles city limits.

Kitty Bungalow’s mission is to provide all cats the ability to adjust to indoor life with a warm and loving lifelong home, while providing those cats who need to continue living outdoors with a caring colony manager, assuring all cats, lap or otherwise, a humane and happy existence. Kitty Bungalow will use the donated meals as a School Lunch Endowment program to feed their 125 rescued kittens. Pussy & Pooch is thrilled to have played a huge role in making this dream become a reality for our local cat adoption partner!

The Kibble Drop truck will unload the approximately 625 pounds of Halo pet food at Pussy & Pooch and unveiled to Kitty Bungalow at the spring Meow Mingle, a festive cat social for human and feline guests, on April 25th , 6:00pm – 8:00pm.  The theme of the night will be a Class Reunion with previously adopted Kitty Bungalow ‘Alumni’ on-paw to celebrate the Halo School Lunch Endowment program. Pussy & Pooch will host sips and snacks for all guests at the Pawbar, and attendees will also enjoy interactive activities such as the Kitten Yearbook Paw-tographs and a fun Cap & Gown Photo Booth with the Kitty Bungalow Headmistress. Plus kitty swag from Halo and free kitty nail trims for all feline guests.

Helping homeless pets find their forever homes is a cause close to co-owner Ellen DeGeneres’ heart. “Pet adoption is something I'm extremely passionate about. I believe that by working together, we can find good homes for the millions of homeless and abandoned pets out there,” she says.

Providing high quality, nutritious food to shelters and rescues to help increase adoptions is also an important part of the Freekibble.com mission. Since 2008, Freekibble.com has donated more than 8 million meals to shelters and rescues. Each day, Freekibble.com and Freekibblekat.com feature a new trivia question. Visitors to the sites can answer the questions and right or wrong, earn 10 pieces of kibble for homeless pets. As Freekibble.com’s official pet food sponsor since 2010, Halo donates the kibble distributed to shelters and rescues throughout the U.S.

"It makes me feel great to know that so many homeless cats will be getting healthy, nutritious meals. I really believe feeding them such a high quality food will make their days a bit brighter while they’re waiting for their forever homes," says Freekibble.com founder, 16-year-old Mimi Ausland.

Mimi is one smart cookie, we couldn't agree with more! It makes us feel great too!!!
